Vegetarian Appetizers

Out of ideas for that family gathering? Or do you need vegetarian appetizer ideas for that picky group of friends from your office? Even if you aren’t strictly a vegetarian, veggie appetizers are a great option if meat is in your main menu. They are light, they are colourful and aren’t too filling, leaving room for the main event.

1. Stuffed Mushrooms:

Stuffed Mushrooms always save the day which is why they are at the top of our appetizer list. Not only are they a crowd favourite but are also ready in less than an hour.  You can use any kind of mushrooms for this recipe but make sure they are baby mushrooms because this is a one bite appetizer. The mushroom filling can be a mixture of breadcrumbs, herbs, different kinds of cheeses but our recommendation is to use garlic too. Trying it out?

Whenever I see cherry tomatoes in the supermarket, I know I have to buy them for this amazing yet simple appetizer. If you love a good Italian Caprese salad, you will definitely love these and the best part is that you only need three ingredients to make these, some fresh cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese and basil leaves. You can also drizzle them with a balsamic glaze.

Hummus with Veggie Sticks

8. Hummus with Veggie Sticks:

Mediterranean flavours are always a winner whether it’s a party of a casual dinner with friends. Creamy dreamy hummus with an assortment of crackers and veggie sticks or bread sticks seems to me like the perfect light appetizer. You can select celery, carrots, green beans and red or green bell peppers for veggie sticks. You can use store-bought hummus but if you want to go the extra mile and make it at home.

9. Cauliflower Wings:

Depending on choice and how it’s prepared, cauliflower can be your favourite or least favourite vegetable. For me, cauliflower becomes a fantastic appetizer in the oven without a lot of work. Whether you’re boiling it first or just tossing the cauliflower florets as they are into the oven, they will come out cooked. The magic is in the sauce, if you toss it in the end with barbecue sauce or honey mustard and chilli sauce, it will be tasty.
