All you need is a little bit of planning and your child will reap the benefits. Not only will it be better for your baby to eat real, fresh food but also, it will also be a good training for their taste buds for different kinds of food in the future.

It helps that homemade baby food recipes are simple to make and you really don’t have to be a professional to be good at it. The first rule of making homemade baby food is to not panic and to not complicate it. There are no allergy free baby food recipes and you have to just go with the flow and slowly test each fruit, vegetable or dairy item individually to understand allergies. There are people who will tell you, you need specific things like a baby food blender and steamer but the truth is, whether you have a normal steamer or a baby steamer, the food matters.

1. Fruits
Trying just simple fruit and vegetable purees are a good idea in the start. Baby food is different from adult food, and these homemade baby food recipes are basic and uncomplicated. You should start with something simple like an apple sauce puree. All you have to do is take a fresh apple, preferably the red organic kind, peel it, slice into pieces and then steam it in a little water until it is tender. 2. Vegetables
For a vegetable that you baby will like, you can start with pumpkin puree or sweet potato puree. Both of these can be perfect for baby food because they are mildly sweet and not overpowering for an infant who has only tasted milk.

3. Dairy
For dairy, you can go for simple yogurt first and try it a few times before continuing with it because sometimes to see if your baby is digesting it well. If all goes well, you can mix yogurt into your fruit and vegetable purees to make flavourful yogurt combinations. Babies usually like the taste of yogurt so the flavour will never be a problem.
It is important to understand that baby food is also a very individualized thing and it can change from mother to mother. This is why there never absolutes and precise instructions or measurements.
